Food Product Manufacturers
It's common today to package foods in a way which makes them appear to be something they are not. Clark's "Original Maple Syrup" (available in ASDA stores) suggests you're buying, well, maple syrup. But when you read the small print on the back of the container you discover that it's only 40% maple syrup - the main ingredient (a whopping 60% no less) being "carob fruit extract". It's not labelled "Carob Fruit and Maple Syrup", or "Carob Fruit Extract". The label has a little maple leaf and only uses the words "Original Maple Syrup", so naturally you think you're getting what it says, particularly at almost £2 for a tiny bottle. When will manufacturers begin to grow a conscience and start labelling their products honestly? Do people really have the time to check every ingredient on each item they buy?How about it Mr Clark - why not just be straight about it?
